Venla Hovi
Venla Hovi’s decorated playing career all started in her hometown of Tampere, Finland. Her hockey dreams led her to North America before returning to play her final game on home soil for the 2019 Women’s World Championships, where Team Finland nearly upset Team USA for the Gold medal.

After three Olympics (including two Bronze medals) with Team Finland, a U SPORTS National Championship with the University of Manitoba Bisons, a Clarkson Cup Championship in 2019 with the CWHL’s Calgary Inferno, and countless other achievements on the ice, Venla Hovi is using her experience and talents to lead the next generation as a coach.

Venla Hovi is now working to push the women’s game forward for a better future for women’s hockey players. She’s currently the head coach of the Okanagan Hockey Academy’s Female U17 Prep team, founder of VH Hockey, which provides hockey training to athletes, and an advocate for the Professional Women’s Hockey Players Association (PWHPA).

Venla Hovi is making sure others see the potential in women’s hockey that she’s seen all along.
